Clearly a double standard
Femminist nazi's everywhere should be applauding and cheering the most recent lack of justice in the system. Clearly a double standard and lack of morals by the elected officials in Florida. Here we have a confessed sexual preditor who claims she has bipolar disorder, yet is failed to be prosecuted on her crimes.
Debra Lafave gets off with only three years of house arrest (what the cable in jail not as good as cable at home?), and seven years of probation. In case you do not remember Debra , she is the very attractive teacher out of Florida who had sex with a 14 year old boy. The boy a student of hers. The kicker was when she had sex with the boy in a back seat of a car while the boys cousin drove the car around.
Now poor Debra is getting people to side with her and her socalled bipolar disorder. But does this mean that all bipolar people are sexual deveants? No. What it means is that with her confession of knowing what she was doing was wrong she gets a pass at jail.
The soft sentance comes in one county where the prosecution went ahead and accepted her guilty plea and failed to sentance her approprietly. In the second county where some of her sexual exploits took place refused to prosecute because the victem did not want to testify. Yes the victem did not want to testifuy in court. So this caused the prosecution to drop the chages. Now wait a minute. She confessed and signed a document to her guilt. Why no trial? The second judge refused her admission of guilt and plea bargin. He was recorded as saying that she deserves ten years in jail for her crime. (good for the judge and BOO to the prosecution!).
Where is the double standard you are asking. Simple think about if the roles were reversed. A male teacher having sex with a student who is only 14. COme on now we all know that thie male would not see the light of day for at least 10 years if not longer.
Is the American society caught up in a Mrs. Robinson fantasay? Is this why we don't go after women preditors like we do male preditors? Yes they are preditors and sick individuals who have sex with children. This is where our society sends a double stanndard of acceptance. It is ok for females to play a Mrs. Robinson role but men are dirty old men who do this. We see in the bar scene many women chaseing after much younger men for only one reason. A nite of romping fun.
