Colorado the fight Continues
It is far from over here in Colorado. The State Supreme court may be playing political correct games but the citizens of Colorado are speaking out. Here is a letter form Defend Colorado Now.

DCN update: Colorado Supreme Court Ruling
In late January, 2006, the Defend Colorado Now (DCN) initiative was
challenged in the Colorado Supreme Court by opponents who claimed the
initiative title was not a single subject as required by Colorado statute.
Although the Court quickly issued rulings on other initiatives this year,
saying they were single subject, the Court delayed issuing a ruling on the
DCN initiative until June 12.
On Monday, June 12, 2006, the Colorado Supreme Court issued a ruling on
the DCN initiative saying in effect that they do not want Coloradans to
vote on the initiative in November. The Court, in a 4-2 ruling, stated
that the initiative was not a single subject. (see ruling:
http://www.courts.state.co.us/supct/opinions/2006/06SA20.pdf ).
Yet in 2004, the same court issued a ruling that said the title of the
initiative was indeed of a single subject. (See ruling:
http://www.defendcoloradonow.org/info/about.html#history ). Why the
about-face? We can not imagine that the Supreme Court would partake of
judicial activism. We do know, however, that we have rallied thousands of
volunteers and tens of thousands of voters on the DCN initiative. Polls
show that voters overwhelmingly want illegal immigration stopped. We will
have no problem collecting the required number of signatures and we
envision the initiative being passed by a majority of Colorado voters.
Perhaps the Court does not envision this future.
We are not giving up - not by a long shot. The people of Colorado have
spoken on the illegal immigration crisis and DCN will continue to respond
to their wishes, even though their elected public servants and judges do
not. We will be filing a motion for rehearing and we stand a chance of
reversing this decision. We and our volunteer supporters will continue to
collect petition signatures. This issue is too important to cast aside.
Our children and grandchildren will judge our actions taken today.
Volunteer circulators: please collect as many as signatures as you can and
then mail your petitions back to us this week. Please continue to collect
signatures - we can send you fresh petitions. Call 303.863.8203 to get
new petitions.
