Who's mightier? Sword or Pen (McCain or Obama)
It is often said in romantic progressive circles that the pen is mightier then the sword.
The pen being the represenitive of thought and enlightenment. A way to express ideas and policy for a better way. That once it is writen it can not be changed. that the free flow of thought is never stopped or altered.
The sword on the other hand is counted on as being the barbaric forceful way of oppression and the ruin of ideas. That the sword only brings violance and with this violance comes the censorship of free thinkers and the path to utpoia.
Ahhhhhh, how romantic and progressive in its wishful thinking and altered reality. Hell if wishes were thought and thoughts were real, I wouldn't have to work for a living and neither would you.
Lets come down to reality and what is tangible with the human element. Yes the pen in the right hands can be mightier then the sword. The pen is a double edged blade.
One side can ink out beautiful, passionate prose. It can write and express thought for peace and nonviolence. Yet in the right hands or the wrong hands that same pen can be used to thrust through the eyeball and into the brain of an enemy. It can be used to slide between ribs and poke holes in a lung , or thrust into a neck to rip at the cur roted artery or jugular. Leaving a person to choke on their own blood and gasp for air.
This pen can also be deceiving in its purity of words. The passages it lays down on paper can be misleading and deceptive in its ways. A smooth, silky, dreamy voice that lulls one into submission. Making promises that it knows it shall never keep.
This is what the pen is. A two edged blade that can save or corrupt.
So then what is the power of the sword?
The power to move mountains and to level seas. Well in a romantic sense. the sword is the brute force to the smooth ways of the pen. Yet the sword does not finesse its ways into lulling its opponents into a false sense of security and safety. This is not the way of the sword. The sword is direct and with purpose that does not hide behind deceit.
The sword can be meciful, or it can be swift and deadly. There is nothing to hide with the sword.
In a game of honesty the sword is by far superior and truthful. It is the symbol of strength and virtue.
The sword if broken can be reforged and cleaned. Rust can be removed and it can be resharpened to its former luster. The pen, well it runs out of ink and is easily replaced with more ink, of any color (metaphor for lies).
So which gets the attention of an enemy quicker? Which one deceives the people faster? Which one would you rally behind in a time of trouble and chaos?
If the Sword represents the republican party (as liberals seem to think all republicans are war mongers) and the pen the democratic party (sweet silky words that lull and capture the public, promising change and giving false deceptive hope). Which one will you stand by?
Which one do you respect at first glance? A quality sword is not easy to find or posses. A pen is cheap and easy to get hold of.
