Activists have blown out of proportion what Rep. Tom Tancredo has said. Speaking hypothetically he suggested possibley nukeing Mecca and Medina, or other Islamic Holy Sites. Ok so what? It was a hypothetical assesment of a possible nuclear attack on the U.S.A. Suggesting an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth response. This is exactly what needs to be done. As I blogged before a response that is just as mean and violant as what these Islamic Extremists hope to do to us.
Well the kowtowing activists and antiAmerican shmucks are taking this oppertunity to go on the offensive and call for the resignation of Rep. Tancredo. All the open boarder morons and hispanic activists are useing this as a plea to get rid of the only memeber of congress who seams to be taking the threat to our national security of a loosely controlled boarder.

Resign from Congress? Tancredo's not buying

Steve Nash wants U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo to resign from office, but he admitted he isn't prone to fantasy, either.

Tapping the back of a poster that read "Tom Tancredo Needs a Time Out" at a rally against the congressman Monday afternoon, he extolled the thickness of his homemade placard.

"We tried to make the sign out of heavy-duty stuff because we figure he will be around for quite some time," Nash said. "A man who would say it's a good idea to bomb holy sites isn't likely to step down anytime soon."

Quite right, Tancredo spokesman Will Adams said.

"The short answer is 'no,' " Adams said when asked if the four-term congressman would consider quitting.

Still, it didn't stop a host of speakers gathered on the Capitol steps from suggesting that very thing - many times over.

First was Hispanic activist Manolo Gonzalez-Estay, who ripped Tancredo for "embarrassing Colorado" with his remarks made on a Florida radio station two weeks ago.

Then came Djilali Kacem, executive director of the Colorado Muslim Society, who said Tancredo damaged the image of the United States with his comments.

"We should not allow (elected) representatives to help . . . al-Qaida recruit more extremists," Kacem said to cheers among the 200 gathered.

And Adrienne Benavidez, executive director of Color of Justice and an opponent of Tancredo's immigration stance, listed a history of wrongs committed by the U.S. government - including the internment of Japanese citizens during World War II. She accused Tancredo of espousing views that led to those events.

"We've been down this road as a country, and I don't want to revisit it," she said.

The wrath of the protesters centered around Tancredo's comment on WFLA radio, in which he responded to a question about terrorists possibly using nuclear weapons with the following exchange between him and host Pat Campbell:

"Well, what if you said something like - if this happens in the United States, and we determine that it is the result of extremist, fundamentalist Muslims, you know, you could take out their holy sites," Tancredo said.

Campbell responded: "You're talking about bombing Mecca?"

"Yeah," Tancredo replied.

Adams said the congressman wouldn't give the protesters the other part of their demand Monday either - an apology.

That suited 55-year-old Debbie Clair of Parker just fine.

Standing alone behind the protesters with a "Tancredo for President" placard in one hand and an American flag in the other, she said people were using the bombing comment to get at an issue that makes them angrier - the congressman's hard-line stance on closing the borders to illegal immigrants.

"They hate Tom Tancredo," she said. "It's personal with these people. And this has everything to do with illegal immigration, not the comment."
