Molly Ivins, who's center?
For years most people with any common sense have read or should I say skipped over Molly Ivins rants and absurdities. Molly lives in her own little world and thinks she ios in touch with the heart of Americana. How far from the truth is she. A loooong way.
In a recent column she lets the Democratic Party know that she will not support Hillary Clinton. Personally this makes me take a second look at Hillary to reasses her positions. Maybe there is something redemable there if Molly won't support her.
Molly writes as if her opinion is a big deal. Actually Dear Molly, YOU DON'T COUNT. What her column shows is the ego's now prevailing in the editorials of American Papers. Her pompus self rightouse ideaolog of being the only one who knows best and telling her readers that it is her way or the highway must come to an end.
Sure there are many who read my blog and tell me in no uncertain words, mainly with the use of explicitives of the verb type, how wrong I am. Well I do say my opinion. I will joke with some about it. But I do not consider my opinion the only one on topics like Molly does. I learned a long time ago there are two sides to every coin. Although sometimes it is a two headed coin.
Anyway lets look at some of what Molly has said in her column.
"Sen. Clinton is apparently incapable of taking a clear stand on the war in Iraq, and that alone is enough to disqualify her. Her failure to speak out on Terri Schiavo, not to mention that gross pandering on flag-burning, are just contemptible little dodges ...
(WOW SO HILLARY IS BEING A POLITICIAN AND IT DISTURBS MOLLY. WE ALL KNOW HILLARY PANDERS TO WHAT EVER CROWD SHE IS SPEAKING TO AND SHE THINKS WILL SWAY VOTES.)
"There are times when regular politics will not do, and this is one of those times. There are times a country is so tired of bull that only the truth can provide relief.
(HERE SHE IS RIGHT. UNFORTUNATELY SHE SEES IT AS A TIME FOR THE UNITED STATES TO CAVE AND KOWTOW TO FORIEGN POWERS AND SOCIALISTIC WAYS. YES IT IS TIME FOR TRUTH, WHAT A SHAME MOLLY DOES NOT WRITE NOR BELIEVE IN IT.)
"If no one in conventional-wisdom politics has the courage to speak up and say what needs to be said, then you go out and find some obscure junior senator from Minnesota with the guts to do it. In 1968, Gene McCarthy was the little boy who said out loud, ‘Look, the emperor isn't wearing any clothes.’”
(SEVERAL POLITICIANS ARE STANDING UP AND SPEAKING OUT. CONGRESSMAN TANCREDO FOR ONE ON IMMIGRATION, THE PRESIDENT ON THE WAR, THE PROBLEM IS MOLLY REFUSES TO LISTEN.)
Ivins says the majority of Americans believe the war in Iraq is a mistake and the U.S. should get out, and a majority are also in favor of raising the minimum wage, repealing President Bush’s tax cuts, imposing a windfall profits tax on big oil companies and reducing the deficit not by cutting domestic spending, but by reducing Pentagon spending or raising taxes.
(HERE WE GO AGAIN WITH THE DEMOCRATIC TALKING POINTS. SPIN THE TRUTH AND FAIL TO CONNECT ANY DOTS ON ANYTHING. REFUSE TO SEE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF ARE TROOPS AND THE GOOD THEY ARE DOING AND HAVE DONE. DEMOCRATIC SPIN TALKING POINTS.)
"That is the center, you fools,” Ivins tells Hillary and the Democrats. "WHO ARE YOU AFRAID OF?”
(WHOS CENTER IS SHE REFERING TO? THEN WHO IS SHE CALLING A FOOL? I GUESS IT TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE EH MOLLY. THEN WHO OR SHOULD WE SAY WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF MOLLY? THE TRUTH PERHAPS/REALITY EVEN?)
