Dixie Chicks just do not Get it.
On March 10th, 2003, Natille Maines opened her mouth and showed disrespect for the President of the United States and her personal ignorance. The flap that reared up lead by their fans ( I was one, note: was) seemed mind boggeling to the Dixie Chicks.
Why are people so antidixie chick they wondered. How dare they censor our music and burn our cd's. How dare anyone in the country music industry speak out against us. This thinking spouted by lead singer Natile Naines made the rounds of talk shows and other leftist outlets.
Now, with a new album out and thier video getting airtime on VH1 Natile and the sisters open thier mouths again and demonstrate why singers and performers should be seen and not heard.
"The reaction was as if Natalie had said 'Death to the President' or something," says violinist and vocalist Maguire. (Maguire is one of trio in the chicks)
"It was the bullying and the scare factor," shudders banjo and guitar player Robison. "It was like the McCarthy days, and it was almost like the country was unrecognisable."
[Amazing how they shift, and twist what really happened to them. It was not a so called McCarthyism. It was the fans holding the Chicks to the first admendment. Showing the Chicks that say anything you want is fine BUT YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT YOU SAY. The claim of a witch hunt against them is amazing. The fact that the vast majority of thier once fans did not care for the Chicks left leaning political views and voiced the FAN opinion just wasn't fair to the chicks. (SARCASM ON THAT COMMENT)]

Alot of artists cashed in .... yeah maybe they did, maybe it was the fact that those artist wanted to show that even if they personally did not agree with the war they would still support the troops and the Country in this time. Most of these stars had the intelligence to distance themselves from maroons like the chicks. Obviously the chicks are jelouse of the fact others did not loose their fan base.
Now here has to be the quote of the week. Maines oopens her mouth and shows just how stupid, lack of common sense, and basicly what a material self centered bitch she is.
"The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism," Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. "Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country… I don't see why people care about patriotism."
Lets look at her nonreality based thinking is on this statement. First she is correct, we do not have to agree with her at all. This the fans demonstrated by complaining to the radio stations and CMT music channel. Forceing the nonplaying of Chicks songs. Why do you have to be a patriot she asks. HMMMMM, good question. No one says you have to be. I do not see any organization running around twisting arms and demanding you be a patriot. I do see organizations and groups coming out and saying we do not agree with Natiles left views and and anti American feelings.
This land IS our Land Natile. We love America from the left coast to the Statue Of Liberty. Remember the purple mountain majesty? We love that too. From the hot arid part of Texas you come from to the frosty mornings in Alaska. We love this land Natile. This is AMERICA, we love America!!!!
Part of loving America is loving all of it. Maybe some parts more then the others, and a few people more then others, but we love America. Those of us who are willing to stand up and defend bafoonish, morons like you Natile, you call patriots. Most of us call ourselves AMERICANS.
The DIcxie Chicks are more then welcome to express their opinions. It is thier right as AMERICAN CITIZENS to do so. It is our right on the same hand to express our opinions about the Dixiw Chicks and what they say.
As for loving all of this land, maybe the Chicks need to get out of their air condition busses and see America. Not just the cushy places they stay but the farmer who does work, the small town mechanic, the volunteer fireman, the guy who is driving their equipment truck, and other blue collar folk. The backbone of this country. I'll bet if asked these people would say they love this country and all the land.

I was one of those blue collar workers in a small podunk town that loved their music. That is until they started showing their true colors and bashing my values and thoughts. What they said, and acted not only affected me personally but it affected the country as a whole.
Perhaps it is only due to the more "old fashionedness" in me. I take it personally when folks bash the troops, always have, always will. They did this at a time that was very precarious to say the least. Instant anger and wrath came upon them from the core listener base.... Those that had/have family in harms way.
Now they are being heralded as the left's new idol music. Not a surprise to me. I still would like to see Toby Keith's "ole lady" go a round or two with them.
