Moving Foward
It is a small step in the right direction .... FOWARD. Unfortunately it is in the hands of lawyers now. We all know that lawyers do not represent the public unless there is a large and I mean a LARGE paycheck in it for them. However this time they are bound by a certain moral responsibility not to screw this up.
As Colorado leads the nation in immigration reform. A political correct term for rewriting the laws that should have been enforced to begin with. As House Bill 1023 gets ready to go to the Govenor for signing it is first being run by lawyers who are to work out the finer details on it. Hopefully these lawyers will not remove any teeth that were applied, dull and cavity filled they are, still some teeth.
Under this bill those who are under 18, already receiving benefits or who are seeking prenatal care and temporary disaster relief, would not be effected. Under the bill, illegal immigrants would be barred from obtaining many non-emergency taxpayer-funded benefits. (IN OTHER WORDS IT SHOULD CUT OFF ANY NEW FREE LOADERS).
Some worry that the elderly and the homeless who qualify for services may be turned down if they do not have any of the required forms of identification. However channel four in Denver just completed a story on how easy it is to get these false identification cards and forms. Channel Four found it took only 90 dollars and 45 minutes to aquire false documentation that would lead to recieving the services that are being run dry by ILLEGALS.
All we can do now is wait and see if the lawyers will uphold the public will or if they will water down this bill before Gov. Owens signs it.
