Another RINO??

I received in the mail yesterday among lots of other junk a postcard flyer for a new candidate for Colorado's 25th district. Who is this person I asked. Having never heard of them before.

So I went to the listed website and read about this person on the brief bio, and looked at her stance on the issues. To be honest, after getting another cup of coffee, and rereading the platitudes of nothingness. I still have no idea who this person is.

Cheri Gerou, 52, of Evergreen. Says she is a 25 year resident. Ok well that would make her little more knowledgeable on local issues then many others claiming to be in tune with the district. Yet reading her website she still has little understanding of the mountain communities.

An example of this is the recent cry of pine beetle. The pine beetle is nothing new to those of us who are long term residents. They have come and gone and will do so again and again. The pine beetle is much like global warming. It is cyclic.

With the great influx or tree huggers in the mountain communities now who refuse to do any sort of conservation on the part of forestry management you would think it is the first time this event has ac curd. Hardly. In the early 70's the pine beetle came through and destroyed thousands of trees.

SO what is Cheri's response and plan for this?

from her website: The US Forest Service predicts that every large, mature lodge-pole pine forest in Colorado and southern Wyoming will be dead within three to five years.
As the infestation spreads and more trees die, it will affect tourism, water quality and the increased risk of catastrophic wildfire caused by dry, standing-dead trees .

........ and????????? Whats your plan? Nothing other then a little scare tactic and panic statement. How about allowing deforestation in places. The clearing of fire roads. How about opening up the downing of the dead trees and infected trees for firewood on a larger scale. Proper treatment of the infected trees once downed was what we did in the seventies. Cut them down, spray them , then cover them with plastic sheeting and let the little bugs die. Providing firewood for the winter for those who chose to offset their heating bill with a NATURAL means of heat.

Cheri Gerou was born and raised in a ranching family in Wyoming before moving to Colorado in 1975. She earned a BA in Fine Arts for the University of Colorado. Cheri and her husband, Phil (also an architect) are small business owners having practiced architecture in the Evergreen area for 21 years.

This right here gives me pause on their judgement. Has anyone else taken a look at some of these so called architectural homes. My goodness what ugly homes are being built. Southwestern stucco masking as adobe brick just does not fit in the mountains. ( I do not know if the Gerou's are the ones designing these or not but, yuuuuuuck.)

Her bio continues:

For more than 20 years, Cheri has been active in the community volunteering for children’s programs, professional organizations and Rockland Community Church. She is the past president of the Colorado Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), past president of the Denver Chapter of AIA and the current chair of Constructors and Designers Alliance (CDA, an organization of 23 member associations involved in the design and construction industry). In 2006, she was appointed by Governor Owens to the State Licensing Board of Architects, Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors where she currently serves as Secretary of the Board and Vice Chair of the Survey Quorum of Professional Land Surveyors. She also serves as a current member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and past member of the Professional Development Committee.

Now she has a list of experiences that are reasonable but are they leadership quality for office as a state representative? I used the contact page on her website to ask her a few questions. The main one, what will she do to make me believe and support her in her run to be my representative in congress. I am awaiting a reply.

I am not holding my breath on a reply. I have found that the local repugnants are a good old boy system and far from true conservative values. Should she reply I will publish it here on this blog in all fairness. She has the right and to be heard. Although I am thinking that the repugnants are just pushing forward another RINO.

You can look at her website for your selves and check her out at
