Flattery Navarro?

Goin through my e-mail I was flattered. Dr Navarro or someone pretending to be him sent me an e-mail (I will post here). I was flattered that he actually took time to read my blog.

His contact to me comes from a posting titled "Armando Navarro ENEMY OF AMERICA". This was posted July 27, 2005 and is in the archieves should you like to go back and read about this person (term used loosly).

I am flattered yet totally perplexed at his utter lack of linguistical skill to defend his position on this mythical Aztlan. Instead of produceing any basis of fact. Other then name calling and insults. There was absolutely no dialog as to any evidance of Aztlan ever exisiting or proof of such a culture.

In the interest of dialog I have several questions to Dr. Navarro or to anyone who can calmly without becoming emotionally upset at the fact there iwas never ever an Aztlan.

My questions are simple and reasonable, as follows:

1) Who are the Aztlan people?

2) When did Aztlan rule over the Apache, Commanche, Arapohoe, Ute, Cheyenne, Hopi, Navaho, and other southand west Indian Nations?
I find no evidance of these proud Nations ever being subjecated other then when the westward movement of America happened.

3) If Aztlan is an old culture did they subjecate the Anasi as well?

4) Where is the archelogical evidance of their culture?

5) Was there trade between them and the Aztecs, Mayan's, or older cultures like the Olmecs or even Tolmecs?

6) Why the hostility toward America? The first socalled invaders were Spanish. It was the Spanish conquestadors. They are the ones who settled in California. Plundered across central and south America. Lead explorations time and time again into the South West united States developing trade and loose treaties with the Indians. So where is the documentation of the Spanish meeting with Aztlan?

Now if Aztlan did not come about untill after the Spanish conquest of this area. All these arguments presented by LaRaza are mute. As this culture was then developed and fell under the Mexican American war and the whole matter was settled by the treaty of Hildago.

As mentioned earlier here is his intellectual addition to the debate:

You are an insult to the word "veteran" and no one is impressed with your lack of eloquence, namely, vocabulary like "butthead." Your spelling errors are tremendous, it's dual citizenship, Buddy Boy, not duel, a duel is a type of fight. No one is "concearned" about you "causeing" any type of uproar because your writing speaks for itself, atrocious, and also, unfounded.

Think about perspectives, different views of the same story, there are many, and if you truly consider your wonderful country to be a "melting pot," then you would understand that not everyone thinks the way you do, nor do they agree with you, and that's okay, because there is freedom of speech and a right to disagree and question authority in the U.S.A.

SO IF THIS WAS ACTUALLY DR.NAVARRO, HOW ABOUT BRINGING FORTH SOME EVIDANCE INSTEAD OF RUNNING OFF AT THE MOUTH. PROVOING HATRED AND RACIST ATTITUDES. ANSWER SOME OF THE QUESTIONS.

TO THOSE WHO WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT ARMANDO NAVARRO, GOOGLE HIM, ASK JEEVES, YAHOO SEARCH HIM. YOU FIND HE HAS A VERY ACTIVE SCHEDULE BETWEEN DEMONSTRATIONS, BEING BOOKED FOR ASUALT, AND SIMPLY STIRRING UP RACISM.

My dear CarpiJugulum,

I believe you have mistaken Aztlan for Aslan. The latter may be found should you chose to travel through the rear of your nearest wardrobe. The mistake is a simple much like the ones Mr. Navarro routinely makes, excepting the fact that Mr. Navarro is an idiot and you are not.

Cordially,
K T Cat

PS - I'm rather embarassed to inform you that the Tale of the Vole was entirely apocryphal.

Love your blog. Keep it up. Thanks for the kind words at mine.

Dear Heather,
Thankyou for this information. I in my research have not come across this. Now I have another direction in which to look.
Does this mean that they had similar dialects? Or are you saying that a common overall language was used like Tagalog is in the Philippiens, to communicate in trade and travel between the indian Nations?

Language is something like DNA. It can be traced very precisely by linguists. They did not have similar dialects, but rather their language was the same at one time and changed over the centuries. The language of many Southwestern tribes such as Hopi, Shoshoni, Paiute is derived from a common source. So, rather than subjugating (sp) others, these people were once one tribe and the groups broke apart as they grew. Then the language of the groups changed over time. The languages would be similar for a while, as Spanish, Italian and Portugese are all similar since they grew from a common root language.

The people of Aztlan are the Aztecs and their predecessors. (Aztec is a word that was invented in the 19th century) The people we know as Aztecs probably migrated to the basin of Mexico sometime after 750 AD. They were not contemporaneous with the Olmecs or the Toltecs, and followed slightly after the time of the great Maya civilizations.
