SENATE BILLS
The following bills will be heard in Senate Room 356 upon adjournment
at around 10:30 am:
SB-06-090 < Wiens - Harvey> Prohibit Illegal Immigration Sanctuaries
This bill prohibits local government from passing ordinances to prohibit
cooperation with Federal officials in regard to immigration status
of citizens, and requires notification to the Federal Immigration office
by a state official or law enforcement if a person is suspected of
being illegal.
SB-06-110 < Wiens- > Prohibit Illegal Work and Resident Status
The bill stiffens the penalties for making fraudulent documents for
employment to include civil liability of not less than $50,000 per
document, as well as a criminal penalty of a Class 5 felony.
SB-06-146 < McElhany- > Proof of Citizenship to Register to Vote
Requires a person who applies to register to vote to provide proof
of citizenship. Directs the County Clerk to not issue a provisional
ballot until proof of citizenship can be obtained.
SB-06-098 has already been heard in committee, and was defeated.
