Colorados Tax and Spend Democrats
Here we go again. More Democrats in office = higher/new taxes and spending out of control.
Colorado recently passed Referendum C. Here is what it says:
"REQUIRING THE RETAINED EXCESS STATE
REVENUES TO BE USED TO PAY FOR EDUCATION; HEALTH CARE;
ROADS, BRIDGES, AND OTHER STRATEGIC TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS;
AND RETIREMENT PLANS FOR FIREFIGHTERS AND POLICE OFFICERS."
Note excess revenues to be used for roads, bridges and other strategic transportation projects.
So what is my complaint then. Simple enough. Gov. Ritter's little panel of liberal morons want to dig into my pocket book yet again. The panel has determined that an average $100 annual increase in the auto registration fee, scaled lower or higher depending on vehicle weight, would generate $500 million a year.
An additional $500,000,000.00 in taxes. This is yet another attempt to fund more welfare programs by diverting funds from theri origional destination. The State of Colorado has no fiscal dicipline is the main problem here. Not a short coming in funds.
Where will the funds end up supposedly:
Resurfacing roads $222 million
Bridges $156 million
Pothole repairs, restriping, guardrail replacement, etc. $82 million
Local governments $40 million
(local governments $40 million???? why?)
A good question. WHy do tax payes in say Lamar have to subsidise the town of Erie, or Erie taxpayers have to subsides Fruita for their streets. $40,000,000.00 in tax money to local governments, this sounds like a bribe to me and funds that will be mismanaged for more social and welfare programs. Things we do not need. Especially with the gloom of 2009s economy under a liberal federal and state government.
