Why Progressives are dangerous
Just another fact for the list of reasons that Liberals, uh Progresives are not only dangerous but stupid as well.
Gail Chasey a Democratic lawmaker in New Mexico wants to tax televisions and video games to raise funds to fight childhood obesity and improve education in the state. Raise taxes to fight obesity? Say what?
"Leave No Child Inside" -- a play on the federal education initiative "No Child Left Behind" -- is backed by grassroots environmental group, the Sierra Club. This explains a lot about this assinine proposal. The Sierra club known for its lack of intelligence when oit comes to actual land managment and conservation.
"The bill proposes levying a one-percent excise tax on the purchase of TVs, video games and video game equipment and would create the 'Leave No Child Inside' fund to receive those revenues," said Michael Casaus of the Sierra Club. The question is who gets to be benificery of this fund. They really do not get into that.
The author and sponsors of the bill, who include dozens of other organizations besides the Sierra Club, expect to increase tax revenue by four million dollars a year.
The items that would be taxed have been carefully chosen because of their links to obesity and poor school performance, the Sierra Club says, citing medical studies.
Around one-quarter of New Mexico's children are obese or overweight, and just over half finish high school.
What they fail to say and show is that removing recess activities like tag, dodgeball, and a poor curriculum of inadequate revised topics for political correct indoctrination. Subjects that are taught in two languages and reaching no one. If kids are not allowed to play and do kid things they get lazy and fat. Bottom line! If the teachers cannot keep the attention of the students is it neccessarily the subject matter of the teachers poor skill in communicating.
"The goals of the bill are to improve the academic performances of our kids, to promote a more healthy lifestyle and to provide our children with outdoor learning experiences, using our state parks and public lands as classrooms," said Michael Casaus of the Sierra Club.
If we read betwen the lines what is being proposed in New Mexico is nothing more then a four million dollar tax. The funds of which are to go to state parks and activities that the Sierra Club has control or a major roll in controlling.
Citizens of New Mexico you are about to be screwed.
