Elitism, whos the real snob?
In a letter to the editor in the Rocky Mountain News yesterday. An obviouse Obama supporter shows whon is the snob and elitist. Here is the letter.
Candidate elitism
Dan Lyons, Fort Collins
Tuesday, May 13, 2008
Both Obama & McCain are rich; Obama earned his money; McCain married his money.
In childhood, McCain was super-privileged son of an admiral; Obama was raised by a single mother.
It’s true that the well-educated (better-informed) favor Obama by a large number. That should be an Obama plus.

If this letter doesn't smack of snobbery and elitism, we need new definitions for these terms.
Lets look at Danny's wrongful conclusions.
First the statement that being the child of a Navel Admiral was super privilaged. What a crock this is. Dan must never have served in the military if he thinks this is a privladged life. Sure there are perks. Being forced to move because of a new duty station. Not seeing your father for months on end because of deployment. Living with the fear of looseing your father due to an act of aggression by some tyrant or hostile government. Or because the lowest bidder got the contract on the gear he is useing. Not really haveing a normal childhood because of the expectations placed upon ones behavior and how it may reflect upon your father and his career. Oh sure what a privlaged life. I think Dan needs to talk to some people who grew up as military brats and ask about the real family life. Not so privilaged.
Obama raised by a single parent? I could have sworn he talks alot about his step father and his mother. The sending him to private schools in Malaysia and private prep, the most expensive and exclusive school in Hawaii. Ivy League collages, scholorships provoded from the tax payer. Not privlaged?
Then what must be the assine statment of the day. Well informed favor Obama. Just how informed are these supporters? What does he base this on. Obama has no platform. No policies, just platitudes and slogans. "Hope and Change", this is not much to go on here. No plan of attack other then we need to sit down with our enemies and hug. No concept of how the economy works other then to play liberal party lines of tax the rich. However Barack doesn't even know who the rich are.
A group of followers that are not informed on the myth of global warming. A group of followers that have no concept of world affairs. Supporters that think racism is something that applies to only conservatives. Followers that think smoking pot is good but cigarettes are bad. Definately not educated there or informed.
Then for Dan to imply that because more college educated (if you can call higher learning educated) are smarter and more in informed just smacks of snobbery and elitism. Looking down his nose at those who do know how to tie their own shoes. This whole letter to the editor is elitist.
Dan Lyons needs a dose of reality and to get out of his office and away from surfing the "Daily Kos".
